In one of Austria’s most art-rich cities, you will encounter works of art on every street corner—be it in painting, music, sculpture or theatre. However, they almost always date back to a time before 1900. Beneath this traditional surface, however, a new creative movement is taking shape. The “new wave” of Salzburg artists does not look like Mozart and does not compose like Gruber. Their stage is the urban space—between gray asphalt and the infinite blue of the sky. They are not 60, but 16, and their stories are not based on opera, but on real life.

But many of them lack the space to make their art visible.

This is exactly where utopia comes in: a place for young people between the ages of 13 and 19 that gives them the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings with the world—beyond Instagram. Art is more than expression—it helps to process emotions, develop and inspire others. For young people in particular, this is invaluable. No matter what art form, no matter what style—everyone is welcome at utopia. Here, a space is created in which young artists can exchange ideas, present their work and shape the art scene of tomorrow together.
